WATKINS CHICKEN SOUP BASE is soooooo versatile! And so good! This tip
can't possibly cover all the ways to use this product, but we'll try to
give you lots of ideas.

Few people have the time to make soup stocks from scratch, but the
alternative is expensive canned broth or flavored cubes of salt... Mushroom
sauce, cream soups, cheese sauce and white sauces are all basic to many
favorite dishes, but are time-consumingto make from scratch and are
loaded with fat. Many busy cooks resort to canned products that contain
more sodium. Watkins has a better solution: our convenient Soup Bases are
the perfect addition to the modern pantry!

* Contains real chicken fat.
* Delicious unique blend tastes like it is from scratch.
* Concentrated/Economical/Space-Saving: 1 Chicken Soup Base = 20 cans
of the competing brand
* Convenient: Make delicious foods in a fraction of the time of cooking
from scratch!
* Versatile: Make soups, sauces, gravies, dips and more!
* No added MSG (MSG occurs naturally in many fruits and vegetables)

USAGE:
----
If you watch any cooking show on the Food network, you will hear them
tell you to keep chicken stock on hand. It comes in cans or boxes, and
once opened pretty much needs to be used right away. There are
resealable boxes, that you can put in the fridge, but this takes more planning
than I put into meals.

If you have a can of Watkins Chicken Soup and Gravy Base, on hand, you
are set to go at a moments notice! It has much better flavor, no added
msg, and even has the chicken fat for the best chicken flavor you can
imagine. It is as if you cooked all day! But you didn't - your smarter
than that!

-----
For people on low sodium diets, use Watkins Chicken Soup Mix in place
of salt to flavor your food. It's not sodium free, but is low sodium.

-----
Use Watkins Chicken Soup Mix in the water used for boiling or poaching
fish, shellfish, or vegetables.

-----
Use Watkins Chicken Soup Mix instead of salt when making biscuits or
dumplings.

-----
Use Watkins Chicken Soup Mix in gravies, sauces, or chicken pot pie
recipes.

-----
Add Watkins Chicken Soup Mix instead of salt when boiling noodles,
rice, potatoes, etc.

-----
Another favorite is Lemon Chicken Rice - just cook the chicken, rice,
onions, celery, & carrots in Chicken Soup Base. Add lemon juice near the
end to taste. Sprinkle on a little Watkins Lemon Pepper.

STORIES
-------
I haven't bought soup at the grocery store in years. I am a soup lover
and we have soup at least twice a week in the winter months. I have had
so much fun creating soups with our soup bases. My favorite is
Chicken-Vegetable Tarragon & it's so easy. Just cook a chicken breast in water
with Chicken Soup Base, add Cream Soup Base, a package of frozen
veggies and a little Watkins Tarragon. Yum!

-----
I love the Chicken Soup mix! It got my kids to eat veggies after my
mother-in-law used it in the cooking water.
- Cheryl O

-----
I often ask myself how I ever got along without the Watkins Chicken
Base and the Cream Base!!

I make chicken nuggets with the chicken base as a coating (with flour)
everyone loves them!! So would think it would be just fine for chicken
fried steak. I sometimes use one of the Watkins Soy Sauces in the mix.
Or some Cayenne.

I love making soups with both of these together especially adding rice
and chicken.

I know none of you ever have to have a frozen dinner but these soups
are great for adding just a tad more flavor and gravy to those too. Like
I have always said, "Watkins is for the person that doesn't cook (me)
and for the gourmet.
- Linda H

-----
I was looking for a Watkins associate to buy the chicken soup base when
I signed up. I had used it before I was an associate and needed more,
but could not find an associate until I saw Jan's ad. I use it for the
best gravies ever, in soups, in stews, in browning bags with beef, pork,
venison, and I would use it in deserts but I have not found a chicken
flavored desert yet.
- Curtis H

-----
I use it in green beans and all sorts of veges, and other cooking
methods. I use it every time I make rice and pasta to season the water,
instead of just adding salt.
- Jan R

-----
When I cook pasta I put just a little of the garlic grapeseed oil in
the water. I don't rinse it afterwards. Then I just shake on some chicken
soup base and mix it in. My family loves this, including the dog. I
have cooked the pasta with the chicken soup base in the water, but I like
it better the other way.
- Lorraine B

-----
Well, I was making some chicken and I did not know what to make with
it. Well I saw my chicken soup base sitting on the counter and I just
started to make the gravy with it. Well, I said add the chicken to it. So
I did. Then I said Through in some sweet peas into it. Well then I said
it doesn't look like something to just eat like that. I then made some
biscuits and poured the chicken mixture over the biscuits. It was
delicious.
So now I will put it in order for how I did it all.

First, bake a whole chicken.
Second, after chicken cools, pick the meat off.
Third, Make gravy directions (double) from the chicken soup base.
Fourth, take one can sweet peas and drain.
Fifth, after gravy is thick add peas and the amount of chicken you want
in it.
Sixth, bake biscuits while you are making the first 5 things.
Last, take hot biscuits and put on plate pour over chicken mixture,
season with salt and Watkins pepper.
Give it a try, I promise you will love it.
- James K

Oyster Cracker Munchies
2 TBS Watkins Original Grapeseed Oil
3 Tsp Watkins Chicken Soup Base
6 oz Oyster Crackers

Mix Grapeseed Oil & Soup Base Together. Stir in Oyster Crackers. Bake
375 for 6-8 min.
You can microwave them for a couple minutes on high, stir after each
minute or so to prevent burning. I prefer the oven method, but my friends
like to "nuke em"
- Lorijo

-----
For gravy, you add a little flour. Instructions are on the can.
I use the Chicken Soup base to make a sauce for Pasta...

2 tablespoons Watkins Chicken Soup Base
2 tablespoons Watkins Grapeseed Oil (regular or flavored)
2 tablespoons flour
1.5 Cups milk
Watkins Black Pepper to taste (I add a ton!)

It is yummy on plain pasta, or over rice.
- Jerry F

-----
I like to add beef, chicken or onion soup base to my mashed potatos. I
just add a tespoon or two to the potatos after I mash them. It adds a
nice bit of flavor.
- Rodney F

-----
Kim S. told us about this terrific recipe and how much her family likes
it, so we had to try it. We completely agree with Kim, this is simple
and the taste is amazing! It came from watkinsonline.com

WATKINS ORGANIC CLEANER is one of the best kept secrets in Watkins. It
will clean practically everything! It's the most versatile cleaner
you'll ever use! One could actually only have this one cleaner in their
house as it will clean just about everything. See below.

* It can be used for everything from dishes and tile to windows and
fabrics

* Save money by using one product for a variety of jobs.

* It's concentrated and Economical - A little goes a long, long way.
Makes up to 256 times its volume in cleaning solution.

* Biodegradable: Earth-friendly materials help to preserve our
environment; contains no caustics, harsh acids, butyl glycol ethers or heavy
metals.

* Phosphate-free: Won’t harm our lakes and streams; use of phosphates
in detergents is believed to result in over-fertilization of our lakes;
eventually, the lakes become filled with plants and die.

* Non-flammable: Can be used near hot ovens, toasters, and microwaves
without fear of fire.

* Anti-fogging: The special surfactant blend used helps prevent fog
from forming when used to clean glass surfaces such as windows and
mirrors.

Regarding the word "Organic" in the product's name:
The word "Organic" does not refer to the standard as defined by the
USDA which refers to food only. It also does not mean "natural". The tern
organic refers to the type of stains that the cleaner works best on
such as food, pet waste, etc.
-Dawn (Watkins Inc. staff)

USAGE:
----
Very important tip: This is a CONCENTRATED cleaner meant to be mixed
with water! Don't try to use it straight from the bottle!

-----
If you happen to run out of Watkins Laundry Detergent and need to do
laundry, use 1/4 cup of Organic Cleaner per load until your order of
Laundry Detergent arrives.

-----
Using Pump Dispenser (Article #06271), put about a teaspoon of Organic
Cleaner in a Spray Bottle (Article #06257), and fill with water for use
with Trigger Sprayer (Article #06258) as an all-purpose cleaner.

-----
Add 1 TBsp of Organic Cleaner and 1 TBsp of Degreaser to 32oz of water
for a great dishwashing soap. If you like a scent, add a dash of lemon
or other Watkins extract to it. If you or your spouse insist that there
must be tons of suds to be cleaning, you can make it 2 TBsps of each,
but you don't need that much to clean the dishes!

-----
A summer tip - add a few drops to your windshield washer fluid, to help
keep you windsheild free of bugs and road film.
While you're at it you can wash your whole car with Orangic Cleaner and
get a clean, shiny, film free car. Won't hurt your lawn either.

-----
The Organic Cleaner is perfect for RV travel or camping out. You don't
want to pack up all sorts of cleaners to go with you - the Organic
Cleaner will take care of all the cleaning jobs you may have, from cleaning
your RV = inside, outside and engine, to laundry, to showering and
shampoo.

-----
We have 3 dogs and 3 cats- all indoor animals! Not to mention the
constant stream of teenagers in and out of here-another kind of animal
entirely! I would go broke buying the expensive rug shampoos!
I use this mixture with my steam cleaner. 2 TBL(about 2
squirts)-Organic Cleaner, 1 TBL (1 squirt) of Degreaser and a shot or two of Pet odor
eliminator in the reservior tank. It works wonderfully in VERY hot
water.
The carpet smells wonderful afterwards and is soft to the touch when
dried.
I've used the same ratio minus the degreaser on a Wool Oriental rug in
a moment of "puppy" desperation and all turned out well.
- Cathy T

-----
I use Watkins Organic Cleaner for just about everything...dishes,
laundry & fine washables, and even outdoors on the lawn. I can’t say how
wonderful it is in every way.
- Erna E

-----
I add 1 TBsp Organic Cleaner to 1 gallon water to help jump start my
plants. I have used Organic Cleaner for plants, trees and to water the
lawn. Plants seem to grow greener and faster, and it helps to kill bugs.

-----
After I am done painting houses, workers come in to put on trim and
baseboards. The air guns leave black grease marks on the wall and Watkins
Organic Cleaner takes the grease spots right off.
- Kathryn H

-----
My "screaming to be cleaned" carpet got spot cleaned this weekend with
the organic cleaner. I diluted about a tablespoon of cleaner to about 5
cups of very hot water. Using a sponge, I scrubbed some very set in
stains and they just vanished!
I'm embarrassed to say that I had rearranged my furniture to cover up a
blob of ground in silly putty. It's been in the carpet for probably two
years. The very first thing I used to get it out was ice...thinking
that if I got it hard enough I could peel/pick it out of the carpet.
Didn't work...as did all of the other cleaners I tried...and there have been
quite a few. I put two full strength drop of the organic cleaner
directly on the putty, scrubbed with my hot sponge and the ground in silly
putty is GONE! Just like that!
- Jody W

-----
A few weeks ago, I was doing the laundry and came across a white shirt
of my son's that he had spilled red koolaid on. I looked around the
laundry room trying to figure out what I could use (because I know that in
the past I have not been able to get the stain completely out). Then I
remembered the organic cleaner. I put some directly on the stain and it
came out completely. Then the week after that I had some stains on a
pair of jeans (source unknown). I had already washed and dried them when
I noticed it. So I washed them again with organic
cleaner......WOW!!!...all the stains gone. I then pulled out my old dirty white tennis
shoes.......again.....WOW!WOW!WOW!.......clean as could be. I will never
again be without Watkins organic cleaner. No more buying seperate spot
remover and tennis shoe cleaner and floor cleaner and bathroom
cleaner......IT DOES IT ALL!!! I can't wait to see what else it will clean. Thanks
Watkins.
Sandy V

-----
I just used the organic cleaner deluted in a spray bottle on my shower.
I didn't even know I had soap scum! My shower doors have never sparkled
so much. Great product!
Cheryl O

-----
I have tried everything in the stores to clean my windows. All have
left streaks, films, grim, whatever was there really never left. Enter
Watkins Organic Cleaner. This is an awsome product. I mixed just a little
squirt in one of the spray bottles with water. WOW what a difference. I
have 7 sliding glass doors they are blinding me. No streaks! at all. I
will never use anything else again.
I also use it on my floors, dishes, laundry, where ever I need to
clean. I have also used it on my oak cabinets.
I can't say enough about this fabulous product.
-Kim S

-----
A year or so ago we needed a new washing machine. My son and I were
carrying the old one out of the laundry room and, since I wasn't wearing
gloves but should have been, I had to set the machine down quickly. I
had no idea how greasy it was under there and we set it down on the
carpet.
When we picked it up again, I couldn't believe the grease spot that was
left on the carpet! Yikes! My son and I both said, "Uh oh!" at the same
time. Right after that, I got out our rug cleaner machine and went over
the spot. It helped but was still very noticeable. We put a rug over it
and it's been there ever since.
Recently my wife decided to rent a Rug Doctor. She went over the spot
with the Rug Doctor and it didn't come up. She then thought of the
Watkins Organic Cleaner and sprayed the spot and then put some of the
Organic Cleaner into the Rug Doctor.
You guessed it...the spot is GONE!
- Scott E

-----
1 cup OC, and several drops of Essential Oil, to make a wonderful
bubble bath!
- Evelyn L

-----
I absolutely love the Organic Cleaner, it works so well to mop my
floors.......they get brighter everytime I use it. It is removing the old
grimy, dingy, buildup left by other products I used for 9 years!

Watkins Tip #11

BACKGROUND:
-----------
WATKINS VANILLA CONDITIONING SHAMPOO is not simply a plain ol' shampoo with vanilla added to smell good. It's formulated with some great herbal ingredients to do great things for your hair! Don't underestimate this amazing shampoo!

It cleanses and conditions the hair and maintains a healthy scalp, this two-in-one formula features a built-in conditioner to clean, detangle and moisturize.

INGREDIENTS:
------------
* Watkins Original Vanilla: Besides adding a great smell, Watkins Vanilla is made from the world’s finest Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans, which are high in naturally conditioning polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are universally used in hair-loss formulas and formulas designed to stop hair loss.

* Oak Bark: The bark of the oak tree was highly prized by ancient
celtic society for its anti-inflammatory properties. It contains as much as 20 percent natural tannins (substances found in tea and red wine) that act as a potent astringent to help seal the cuticle of the hair.

* Bitter Orange Peel Extract: Excellent for dry, irritated or sensitive skin, bitter orange combines relaxing and stimulating properties and is regarded as a circulatory tonic.

* Roman chamomile: The most potent of the chamomiles and widely used since ancient times, Roman chamomile contains high levels of alpha-bisabolol and natural flavonoids that are well-known for conditioning and softening effects. Traditionally used to add sheen and highlights to hair, and as a soothing agent for skin and scalp.

* Sandalwood extract: One of the earliest essential oils used by ancient peoples, sandalwood boasts at least 4000 years of uninterrupted use. Commonly used in 19th-century remedies for its cosmetic and healing properties, sandalwood oil softens the hair and is soothing to the
sensitive scalp.

* Wheat Protein: Penetrates hair shaft, providing strength, body, manageability and luster.

USAGE:
----
Be sure to cut down on the amount of shampoo you use compared to competitor shampoos. A little goes a long, long way. One of the 'hidden' values of Watkins products - concentrated!

STORIES
-------
Our family LOVES our Watkins Vanilla Conditioning Shampoo! It is the only shampoo I use on my girls (6 and 3). It does a great job of washing and lightly conditioning their hair PLUS it is all done in 1 step! Also, they have never complained about soap in their eyes! Love it!
-Kim S.
-----

This is one of my all time fav products! I LOVE the way Vanilla Conditioning Shampoo smells! It's like using a gourmet shampoo! I feel so pampered! It's thick luxurious feel and scent is warm and soothing! And my hair looks great!
-LeAnn K.
-----

I really love the smell in my hair, so I ordered the shampoo for myself. I have been using it for almost a year now, and my hair is like I use a professional, salon quality shampoo/conditioner. I have no split ends, and if I wash my hair in the evening I leave it in a towel overnight.
In the morning my hair is baby-soft. I like the smell so much, that I add about 1/2 tsp vanilla extract to the bottle when I open it :)
-Becky C.
-----

I originally bought it because I like the scent of vanilla and also prefer the conditioning to be in the shampoo (cutting down on applications and rinse outs) - but I've noticed that my hair seems to stay cleaner longer now too.

Watkins Tip #10

BACKGROUND:------------

WATKINS ORIGINAL DOUBLE-STRENGTH VANILLA was introduced to our product
line in 1895 and uses Premium-grade Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans.
These are considered the best vanilla beans in the world and are grown
on the island of Madagascar off the coast of Africa. This
labor-intensive crop is of such high quality that a single bean can retail for more
than $3 (U.S.).

Vanilla is the world's third most expensive spice behind saffron and
cardamom. Every flower must be hand pollinated and since the flower only
lasts for 1 day or less, the crop must be continually inspected for
flowers, the plant only grows if a certain mushroom is nearby, the pods
ripen after 9 months, and the beans must be alternately placed in the sun
and inside each day for several months.

WATKINS ORIGINAL DOUBLE-STRENGTH VANILLA is our 'flagship' product.
When many customers think of Watkins, they think of vanilla. And the
vanilla they are wanting, like their grandmother and great-grandmother used
to use, is the Original Double-Strength - not the pure vanilla.

-----
WATKINS ORIGINAL DOUBLE-STRENGTH VANILLA is:
* Premium-grade Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans: For full, rich flavor.
* Extremely concentrated
* Bake-proof/freeze-proof: Flavor won't dissipate when making ice cream or foods baked at high temperatures.
* Low alcohol: Only 8 1/4 % versus pure vanilla extract which contains 35% alcohol and can carry away delicate flavor components under high heat.

-----
WATKINS ORIGINAL DOUBLE-STRENGTH VANILLA was awarded the Grand Prize
with Gold Medal for Highest Quality at the International Exposition,
Paris in 1928.

-----
Watkins ORIGINAL Double-Strength Vanilla VS. Watkins PURE Vanilla

Although both contain real Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla extract, Watkins
Original Double-Strength Vanilla is made with considerably less alcohol
and is fortified with stabilizers which make it more effective for
baking and freezing. Watkins Pure Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla extract is
better used in recipes that do not require baking or freezing, such as
adding to whipped cream, butter, cereal, or a favorite beverage.

MEXICAN VANILLA:----------------
Mexican Vanilla must be purchased with caution, if at all. Although
Mexican vanilla beans may be high quality, the vanilla extract produced
there rarely is.

A recent study showed that as many as 42% of bottled vanilla samples
from Mexico contained coumarin which comes from the tonka bean, not the
vanilla bean. Coumarin is highly toxic in large doses, can cause liver
and kidney damage, and has been used in rat poisons, as it causes
internal hemorrhaging. The amount of coumarin in a single two-ounce bottle of
Mexican vanilla could kill someone and Mexican labeling laws do not
require the declaration of ingredients such as coumarin, so you don't know
what you're getting. Considering that Mexico barely produces enough
vanilla for its own use, and that real vanilla, no matter its origin, is
expensive, it's highly unlikely that the bargain-priced bottles of
vanilla found in Mexican souvenir shops are really vanilla.

HISTORY:--------
The Aztecs originally discovered vanilla, which is a species of
climbing orchid, and cultivated it as a crop. When Cortez came to Mexico
around 1510 AD, he was offered a drink by the Emperor Montezuma which was a
chocolate drink flavored with vanilla. Cortez was impressed and took a
supply of vanilla back to Spain, despite the Aztecs attempts to keep
the source a secret, and vanilla soon became a favorite and exclusive
spice for the Aristocrats and Royalty of Europe.

From 1510 AD until 1848, Mexico had a monopoly on the cultivation of
vanilla. Nowhere else in the world was it found possible to grow vanilla
beans. The plant could grow and it would flower, but no beans would
grow. In 1836 a botanist discovered the secret of pollinating the flower
and in 1841 a 12-year-old slave on Bourbon Island found a quick way of
hand-pollinating, which is still used today. In 1848, on Bourbon Island,
the first production of vanilla in history occurred outside of Mexico.
In 1871 Madagascar started production and is now the world's major
producer of vanilla.

Mexico now barely produces enough vanilla for its own use.

-----
Cocoa-Cola is the world's major consumer of vanilla and when they
introduced "New Coke" in 1985, which contained no vanilla, the economy of
Madagascar crashed. In 2000, Madagascar suffered a typhoon followed by
political problems and bad weather and by 2004 the price of vanilla was
up to $250 a pound. More recently the price is back down to about $20
per pound.

USAGE:----

That old, traditional, old-fashioned flavor of baked goods that
everyone loves came mostly from the Watkins Original Double-Strength Vanilla.
Using this vanilla in all of your baking will return your tastebuds to
the good ol' times of great tasting baked goods and other items that
use vanilla.

-----
This vanilla is "double-strength" so you can use half as much as the
recipe calls for. Or, if you like vanilla as much as we do, use the same
amount as the recipe calls for and get an extra wonderful vanilla
flavor.

-----
With a Qtip, rub Watkins Vanilla on a toothache or on a teething baby's
gums to ease the pain.

-----
Make a Black Forest sauce for ice cream by adding 1 teaspoon Watkins
Cherry Extract and 1 teaspoon Watkins Vanilla Extract to 1 cup Chocolate
Syrup.

-----
If you'd like the flavor of a milk shake without the ice cream, pour a
glass of milk, add 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon of Watkins Vanilla, and a little
sugar or sweetener to taste. My Mom used to love this, especially
when dieting. It is also good in warm milk. If you have an espresso
machine, you can just steam the milk.

----
Add a little Watkins Vanilla to your coffee grinds when brewing your
coffee, or add a little Watkins Vanilla & Watkins Cinnamon to the grinds
and you will have a nice cafe au lait. If your coffee is already
brewed, you can add just a 1/4 tsp of Vanilla right into the cup.

If you enjoy all those creamer products on the market, you can add skim
milk, low fat milk, regular milk, half & half or cream, and add a touch
of vanilla, and your favorite sweetener.

----
It has been said that people crave chocolate or find 'comfort' in their
chocolate and that it is actually the vanilla in the chocolate that
people are seeking. In aromatherapy vanilla is a comforting scent.

-----
If you want to make your house smell comforting and welcoming, heat
some water with just a touch of vanilla in a pan on the stove. It will
permeate your home. I have also added a little cinnamon, cloves, allspice
and or nutmeg - Watkins, of course!

Also, you can put a small amount of Vanilla in a jar lid and place it
on top of the refrigerator, there will be a slow release of Vanilla
scent, due to the warm air coming from the back of the fridge.

----
Around the turn of the twentieth century, women would put a bit of
Vanilla behind each ear as cologne, when their honeys came a-courtin'! I
wonder if this started with Watkins Vanilla?! While we could still use
our Vanilla for those courting purposes, Watkins has made it into a
wonderful cologne - its the only scent Jan wears!

----
When using a cake mix from a box, you can add a little Watkins Vanilla
to perk up the flavor!

----
A very simple icing for cakes or cinnamon rolls or even sweet quick
breads: 1 package of softened Cream Cheese, about 2 cups of confectioners
sugar or more if needed, 1 tsp Watkins Vanilla. If it gets too thick
you can add a few drops of milk at a time until its the desired
consistency.

----
A family tradition in our family is to make a simple syrup for
pancakes, waffles and french toast. In a small sauce pan put 1/2 cup water, 1
cup sugar, and bring to a boil, heat until the sugar is completely
dissolved. Remove from heat, then add 1 tsp Watkins DS Vanilla. This is
Jan's favorite syrup!

-----
With a Qtip, put a drop or two of Watkins Vanilla on a COLD lightbulb.
When you turn the bulb on, the scent of vanilla will permeate the room.
I would not do this on any but incandescent bulbs - NOT halogen or
fluorescent.

Watkins Tip #9

BACKGROUND:------------
Here is information straight from the horse's mouth. Kim Barretta, the Personal Care Product Development lady, clarifies the differences and uses for salves, lotions, balms, creams, Body Butters, dry oils, and oils.

DETAILS:
-------
Generally speaking the thicker the moisturizer the more it will moisturize.

Some examples:

Perfumed Body Lotions:
These are lotions you get with your perfume, like in gift packs. These are usually very thin and don't provide a lot of moisture. They are really just a way to layer your fragrance. Runs fast if you put a dime sized amount in your hand and hold your hand vertical. We do not have a perfumed body lotion. These are very specific to the perfume industry.

Hand and Body Lotions:
Our lotions are Hand & Body Lotions. These will provide great all over skin softening abilities. Usually a medium thickness--thick enough for rough areas, knees, elbows etc--but thin enough for all over use. Will run but not fast.

Body Balms:
Somewhat thicker, but generally speaking they have the same abilities as a Hand & Body Lotion. We've had body balms in the past. Currently the Herbal Extract in Target is marketed as a Body Balm.

Creams:
Such as our Remedy Cream. Generally in Watkins lingo--a cream is thick and will not run when a dollop is placed on the palm. Will have a good moisturizing ability. Very
good for dry areas--hands, heels, elbows, knees. Just like with Lotions, creams can vary slightly in the thickness. Our Remedy Cream is more "spread-able" than some creams and is able to be used on larger areas.

Body Butters:
Such as our Lemon Crème Body Butter. Our Body Butters are quite unique, as they are "whipped". This gives them a creamed look, feel and spread-ability and would classify them as a thick cream. Very good for spot areas and dry hands. Harder to use on large areas.
Many body butters on the market are the consistency of a hard salve, but more lotions & creams are starting to use shea butter which is a major ingredient in our body butter. Hard to keep a good ingredient under wraps!

Salves:
Such as our Red Clover or Old Red Barn. These are generally hard packed items and the delivery method is via fingertips, rubbing the surface & warming the product. Very good for extremely dry, spot areas. Great for night-time use with cotton gloves or socks. More "healing" abilities. Forms a moisture barrier.

Dry Oils:
Such as our Vanilla Dry Oil. This product is also quite unique as there are few other "body oils" on the market that are comparable. Dry oils are to be used after the bath or shower while the skin is wet. They are sprayed on and rubbed into damp skin and provide a moisture barrier. This type of oil is classified as a "dry oil" because the formula allows it to be absorbed quickly into the skin, and leaves a soft, not oily feel to the skin. They can also be used as a bath oil.

Beauty Oils:
Ours is all-natural and provides the most intense moisture of any of the oils or lotions. Most will have Vitamin E and be very oily to the touch. Good for spot areas especially the face. These oils have great anti-aging properties.

Body Oils:
This is the same formula as our Beauty Oil, but packaged larger for all over use. These oils have only natural preservatives, so if you only use it for the face our Beauty Oil will give you a much better delivery system and less product. If you tend to use our oil as an all over body oil, for massages, or as a bath oil, then our larger Body Oil is the most economical purchase. As an all over body oil, unlike our dry oils, our Body Oil will leave more oil residue on the skin.

-----
Old Red Barn is basically a barrier balm that will help prevent imbedded dirt when gardening. It is also good for spot moisturizing and is excellent for dry, cracked cuticles. Last it is the best salve for an overnight dry skin treatment. Apply the salve to your hands or feet, put on cotton gloves (can be found in drug stores) or thin cotton socks (white) and you'd be amazed how soft your skin will be in the morning. This is great for those who suffer from cracked heels.

You may use as many products as you like at one time. I personally like to layer my scent. For example, first you can shower or bathe with Vanilla Body Wash, then apply Vanilla Dry Oil followed by Vanilla Hand & Body Lotion for all over moisture then spot moisturize with Vanilla Shea Butter (body butter) and finally a spritz of Vanilla Cologne. During the day if you find you need a touch up, I would recommend the lotion over an additional spray of Dry Oil, as you could get it on your clothes...

-----
While at WIBC, Kim also told me that Petro Carbo salve is the best thing to use for babies' diaper rash! She said it provides the same moisture seal that other diaper rash products offer, but the cool part is PCS HEALs the area too. She said it is safe for baby bottoms too. However she suggested that whenever you try a new product on your skin, or baby's skin, that you do a patch test.

To do a patch test, place a small amount on the inside of the arm. Wait and make sure there is not reaction. If not, you can use it.

Watkins Tip #8

BACKGROUND:
------------

WATKINS SUPERFOOD MULTIPLE (Super Multi), unlike leading brands which contain only synthetic vitamins, this formula provides vitamins in their natural form. It provides the proper balance of nutrients necessary to help support metabolism and enhance energy, maintain mental function, slow the aging process, enhance immune function, and help you look, feel, and perform at your best.

-----
USP is an optional certification program which requires adherence to good manufacturing principles and that the dietary supplement products contain the declared ingredients in the stated quantities. Not all companies will pay the extra to get certified, but Watkins does.

-----
TABLET vs. CAPSULE vs. LIQUID:
In powder or capsule form each individual particle of the supplements and antioxidants are exposed to oxygen right from the beginning, so they are constantly losing potency until they are used up. Even if there's a cover on the container there is still oxygen inside. Oxygen breaks down supplements and antioxidants are wasted fighting the oxygen.

Consider an apple. When you peel an apple it turns brown when exposed to the air. So the outside layer of our supplements is like the peel. If you put orange juice or lemon juice on the apple the Vitamin C in the juice fights off the oxidation and the apple will resist turning brown for several hours. If you were to drink the orange juice after this, there would be no Vitamin C left in it because it was destroyed protecting the apple.

The case is similar with liquids. Basically liquids are H2o - water - which has oxygen. Plus many herbs, antioxidants, etc., react with the liquid and one another so, again, they lose potency. There is also no way to get all the herbs, vitamins, grains, and antioxidants we use into liquid form.
